The Annapurna Area Conservation Project (ACAP) is the largest protected area in Nepal. It spreads over an area of 7629 sq km in seven districts: Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, Myagdi, and Kaski. It was established in 1992 AD. The ACAP features some of Nepal’s most popular and incredible trekking routes.
The conservation area encompasses the Annapurna Himalayan Range and also contains the world’s deepest valley Kali Gandaki River Valley. It is bounded by the dry alpine deserts of Mustang and Tibet (China) in the north, by the Kali Gandaki River in the west, by Marsyandi Valley towards east and by valleys and foothills of the northern of Pokhara valley in the south border.
