Proper equipment is great in making the trip safe, comfortable and enjoyable. The right equipment will enable it to guard against weather variability, diverse geography and altitude, particularly in mountainous areas. The level of preparation also minimizes physical stress and enables the travelers to enjoy the ride with a lot of confidence. Himalayan Pathways suggests the planning of equipment according to the trip nature, season, and the destination. The list below does not include everything that will be needed on all trips, and it can be modified based on the type of trip you are participating in, a trekking or a tour program.

Clothing

The clothing must be appropriate to layer, since the weather can vary during the day, particularly in mountainous and high altitude areas. Frequently, mornings and evenings are cold, and day time temperatures may be higher. Layered clothing is easy to regulate and it prevents body discomfort in various situations.

  • Daytime walking shirts are lightweight.
  • Warm insulating materials like down jacket or fleece.
  • Windproof jacket and waterproof jacket.
  • Loose hiking pants.
  • Warmer base layers in colder regions.
  • Sleepwear that are appropriate in cold weather.
  • Underclothing and stockings, warm wool socks.
  • Sun hat and warm hat
  • Gloves for cold weather

Footwear

Proper footwear is necessary to provide comfort, balance and safety, especially when trekking and walking. Good shoes also protect the feet against injuries and support them when walking on steep trails and on long walks.

  • Good ankle support trekking shoes.
  • Evening shoes or sandals (lightweight shoes).
  • Colorful warm socks that can be worn during long walks.

Trekking Gear

The trekking equipment assists in the day to day walks and also in coping with the variable trail and weather conditions. They are used to enhance stability, visibility and hydration throughout the ride.

  • Backpack or daypack
  • Trekking poles
  • UV protective sunglasses.
  • Headlamp/flashlight and spare batteries.
  • Hydration system (water bottle).

Personal Items

Personal items can be used to ensure that hygiene, health and comfort are upheld during the trip, particularly in the remote regions where amenities may be scarce. Visitors are advised to carry things that they often utilize and feel at ease with.

Travel Documents and Accessories

Travel records and accessories are required in identification, border entry as well as day to day travelling requirements. It is advisable to keep the copy of the important documents in case.

  • Charging cables and power bank.
